More to come ...

At the end of the night

At the end of the night ... even though you're exhausted, your feet hurt, your head aches from all the bobby pins poking into it, and you just want to fall into bed ...

At the same time, its sad to take off the party dress and take apart the hairstyle. It means the fairy tale day is over, and its back to reality ... so you dawdle a bit. Or at least I do.

Then, since you (me), are still in that weird tired/yet awake state, even after pulling 60 pins out of your head and washing your face twice to get off all the make up...you decide its a good idea to turn on your computer and write a blog entry. Even though you really, really should be going to sleep, as tomorrow is going to be busy too. Thank god for daylight saving's time, and that 'extra' hour.

More details & pictures to come, but a tidbit I thought you'd enjoy: the groom and his mother danced to 'Rainbow Connection', as sung by Kermit the Frog.

Not dead, just sleeping

Hiii .... still here, on occasion. Hi Saf. :) I've very much been enjoying your near-daily posts, keep up the good work!

Nothing really new and/or interesting to report (although I do have a list of things that I wanted to write about, but haven't gotten around to yet)...my life is mostly sleep, commute, work, commute sleep. Which isn't bad, just tiring, which leads to the desire to ... sleep! And not write much. Apologies.

The morning commute didn't use to be so bad, although it was quite alien to me to be up and leaving the house at the same time as the sunrise. At least it was pretty, and there was a gorgeous pink light that preceded the full sunrise. Now when I get up and leave the house, it still looks like nighttime - which really doesn't help with the feeling that its way too early to be up and I should still be in bed. I sometimes can still see the sunsets on the train ride home, and fascinating patterns in the clouds, but soon that too will pass, and I'll be travelling both ways in the dark. I often wish that I could be a bear in the winter months, just curl up in a nice warm cave and hibernate all season. Maybe wake up now & then to take in the beauty of the crisp, clean, newly fallen snow... then doze off again until April.

The past 3 weekends in a row I have made loaves of lemon poppyseed bread - very yummy. The taste of fresh homemade bread, with a hint of lemon and crunch of the seeds. A new family favorite, although I got the first loaf almost all to myself.

Unfortunately, this weekend is going to break that stretch ... as I am participating in a wedding, and thus, am guessing that I will have little time for much else. Should be a fun time though, I'm looking forward to it! Hoping it doesn't snow though, as that may make for some chilliness (strapless dress & all). Precautions have been taken to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions, and I *think* that I can handle the shoes. Fingers crossed that I don't trip (although they're fairly solid heels, should be fine). Pictures, stories etc to follow soon.

That's all I got for now ...

A pox on that cursed state

Spart & Tulip, this is your fault. Entirely.

Sure, it started out innocently enough. A craving for sushi. Mmmm, sushi. California rolls, in particular ... my favorite. What better way to start off the weekend? Remembering those yummy ones I had a few weeks ago with you two, the Rainbow California rolls with salmon & tuna on top. So my train of thought innocently progressed, synapses sparking and such, until disaster struck. The combination of thinking about sushi + California + roommates resulted in the horror (horror I tell you!) of getting the theme song from The OC in my head
AND NOT BEING ABLE TO GET IT OUT!

Blast.

I'll get you for this.

Here I cooooooooooooooooome...........

"This is kind of like Halloween for adults."

A comment I overheard while exploring Nuit Blanche last night, and I have to say I kind of agree. An all night playground to explore, with the whimisical and unexpected everywhere you looked. I only stayed up in the U of T/Yorkville area and saw what they had to offer, but it was definitely a unique experience, and I'm glad I went. I think my favorites were the Wish Tree and the Fog Sculpture (pictured), both located in Philosophers Walk ....
