Colours and Flight

There was an awesome sunset on Thursday night, shades of orange and red, with strong rays shooting skyward as the sun sank. I love my view, and the fact that I have two glass walls of south and western exposure. Gorgeous.

I also came across a quote today that I really like:

"Sometimes you have to take the plunge, and build your wings on the way down."

Summer of Shoes

I'm somewhat abnormal from a lot of girls, in that I hate the activity of shoe shopping. I do not enjoy it at all, but it is an occasional necessity. I go for comfort primarily, and once I find it, I will wear the shoes until they fall apart (be it two, five, or ten plus years - seriously). And then often enough, once they've bitten the dust, I'll get the exact same kind (if possible) to replace them.

Usually, the falling apart of my foot wear happens on a rotating basis, but this year, everything seems to be giving way at once. My casual dress/work shoes, sandals, running shoes ... all gone, or soon to be going. :( (Don't even get me started on dress shoes ... I don't really have any, and need those as well! Argh.) Since I've been having some foot problems this year as well, and will most likely be getting orthotics sometime soon, finding shoes that will accommodate them as well as being supportive to start with is also a consideration.

So, this is a partly a call for help ... anyone out there who actually likes shoe shopping, and is willing to give me a hand in finding stuff - let me know! Because I don't know where to start ...

To end, on a completely off topic note, a riddle: What word in the English language begins and ends with the letter 'E', and only has one letter in it?

Stay tuned - More to come

So, I fully intended to write here this weekend, I did. But when I tried on Saturday blogger gave me an error message about cookies, which made me hungry instead ... easily distracted here, I guess. And today, I got nothing ... I'll try to come up with something more soon.

Recap of the last month or so though:

  • I moved! Yay Toronto, yay place of my own! (for the meantime, anyways)
  • As a result of this, I now have a lakefront view as I sit here typing this. Sweet!
  • New job! Well, old new job, went back to same place I was at last summer. Not too exciting, but not too bad either - nice people, pays well, and best of all, no more commute! (see above)
  • Both of the above are located on the 9th floor (of different buildings). Also, both are only until the end of August, so I'm keeping an eye out for new opportunities - let me know if you hear of anything interesting, job or apartment wise!
  • I can breathe again, my sinuses have recovered from the hay fever that plagued them through most of April and May
  • I saw Lord of the Rings, the play ... awesome show, particularly the staging/effects. Spectacular.
  • I've become addicted to this deceptively simple game: Splash Back. Try it, you'll like it!

Thats all for now ... more words, pictures, etc coming soon!
