Weekend review

This is for you Kailey - complaining that I haven't updated since this past *Wednesday*. Horrors! You, my darling, have not updated since Wednesday the 19th! Smarten up. And do some updating yourself. ;)

This weekend has consisted of many enjoyable things.... Lord of the Rings extended editions, sleeping in, salsa dancing, bonding with Thomas, Buffy season 6 dvds, and yummy chicken souvlaki dinners. It was rather sorely lacking in things that really should have gotten done, though (grad school applications, readings, 'reaction papers', book review, grocery shopping, etc). Whoops. Ah well....

I tried salsa dancing for the first time ever this afternoon, and was pleasantly surprised to find it enjoyable, and not as hard as I was expecting. I'm going to give all the credit to Saf, though, as it was her that convinced me to go, and then her I spent most of the time partnered up with (yay!). You can lead me around the dance floor anytime, Saf. (As long as Tony doesn't mind, lol.)

Bound, bound, bound and rebound .... why haven't I gone to bed yet?

I've been meaning to sit down and write a post for the past couple of days, and time just keeps slipping away from me. It has been an eventful week, it feels like....

I signed up to take trampoline classes (again) on Monday at the AC .... looking forward to another semester of bouncing. I love to fly .... although I have rather been feeling the effects of gravity ever since Monday evening - its very much worth it, though. Slightly intimidated by the 3 Phys. Ed. students who make up the rest of the class, particularly the one who, from what I've seen, definitley has some professional gymnast training.... ah, well, its all fun, nothing to be taken too seriously. Just let me BOUNCE! And fly...

Funny story about the first class this week (well, techinically it was the 2nd week of class, but my first). One of the girls (not super gymnast girl, Eva) started chatting with me before class, very friendly and nice, asking what I was taking, etc. I didn't catch her name until the instructor was going down his list, and I heard him say 'Okay, we have Caroline and Carolyn'. (So I didn't ask her for her name at that point). She also has a twin, who is in another trampoline section, and apparently they messed with his mind a bit by not telling him they were twins...getting off topic. She refered to herself and her sister as the 'KKK', and she told Tom (our fabulous instructor) that she goes by Carol. Oops, Karol....but it looks so weird to type that! Anyways, so a few minutes later I ask her what her twin's name is, out of curiousity. 'Kathy', she replies....'As in Katherine?', I ask in some disbelief. I couldn't believe it - identical twins, Karoline & Katherine, or Karol and Kathy. What are the odds.... very amusing. In any case, she hadn't caught my name earlier (hadn't asked), and needless to say, she was a little surprised too to find out that I was Carolyn, and had a sister (although not a twin) named Catherine. (And yes, we would not be impressed if you called either of us Carol, Caroline, or Cathy. Or spelled it with a K....but thats just us 'CC's').

Wow, this is already longer than I'd meant it to be, and I need to go to bed soon....tomorrow is my loooong work day. Blah.

What else? Oh, yes, I wanted to say THANK YOU to Talibah for making a yummy vegetarian lasanga for dinner tonight!! Sooo good (and I didn't have to cook, whoohoo!). Even better. And also for helping me get the recycling stuff in order, it was much appreciated.

My books arrived today as well, which was a nice thing to come home to after a long day. I also just now learned some good news, and that is that RENT, my favorite musical of all time, is making a few Canadian stops on its tour in the near future..... EEEEEE! Don't know if I'll get a chance to go or not, but it would be so awesome if I could. (I found out the news from a friend who currently resides in California, go figure). The show will be in London (ON) on Valentines Day, Hamilton March 14, and Kitchener March 15-16. Hmm.... Anybody wanna go?

"How do you measure a year? Measure in love...."
"No day but today."
"How can you leave the past behind when it keeps finding ways to get to your heart? It reaches way down deep and tears you inside out, 'til you're torn apart .... RENT! How can you connect in an age where strangers, landlords, lovers, your own blood cells betray? What binds the fabric together when the raging, shifting winds of change keep ripping away?"

ahh...... RENT.

"Yes, you live a lie - tell you why! You're always preaching not to be numb, but thats how you thrive. You pretend to create and observe when you really DETACH from feeling alive..."
"Perhaps thats because I'm the one of us to survive!"

Okay, I really should go to bed now.

Insomnia + Procrastination = We're not quite sure, but its weird

Sorry about the past double post - I was going to delete the 2nd one, then Saf went and commented on it, so I didn't want to totally crush her spirit. So ya got some repetition going on there.

Ahhhhhh.......it is 2:38am on Saturday morning. Why why why am I still up? Cause I have a small project to finish for tomorrow, and have been spending several hours doing many other things instead. Procrastination at its finest!

Lets see....I have been battling w/ a new router that keeps losing my internet connection (horrors!), making an order on Chapters.ca, cancelling said order on Chapters.ca after noticing a boo-boo I'd made in my shipping address, and will next be re-ordering on Chapters.ca. Fun times! I have also been talking to Saf on the phone, and Katrina online.

What am I ordering online at 2:45am? (Cause I knew you were gonna ask, Saf - and really, I think that you are the only one who reads this at the moment.)
  • The Amulet of Samarakand (hardcover, the good cover, thankyouverymuch)
  • A Wrinkle in Time
  • The Arm of the Starfish
  • A Ring of Endless Light

Yep, Jonathan Stroud and a good dose of Madeleine L'Engle. I did consider ordering Whale Rider, but figured I'd wait and read it first, then see if I like it (I'm sure I will, though). Have I loaned you 'Whale Music' to read yet? It has absolutely nothing to do with Whale Rider, but is fabulous none-the-less. You can borrow it in April, hehe. Essays first! (I really should listen to myself here).

Name Change

Okay, so I did originally start this up 'Just for Saf', or at least at her urging. But now (after what, a whole 2 hours?), lets branch out from that. Lets go swimming....

Name Change (Take 2)

[I thought the original 'Name Change' didn't upload, so I wrote another one....and lo and behold, you get to see them both.]

Okay, so I started this blog 'Just for Saf', but theres more to it than that (well, maybe not, maybe its just a vanity thing). Anyways. I'm sure she'll understand....

Victory is mine!

Over HTML, that is. Check out the lovely 'Blogs I Read' section to your right. Oh yeah, oh yeah - I figured out how to put that there ALL BY MYSELF. The help section of Blogger wasn't too helpful to me until after I'd already found the code elsewhere, but it did help me in the tweaking.

Always feels good to accomplish something....even if it has absolutely nothing to do with all the other things I *should* have been doing tonight. Oh, well....c'est la vie.

What have I gotten myself into...

..with this whole 'blog' thing? I have jumped on the bandwagon, so to speak, lets see how long it takes before I fall off. If nothing else, now I am free to comment, comment, comment on Saf's blog! Yay me!

Will I actually write anything in this space of the web that is 'mine'? I don't know...
